INTRODUCTION

The amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere are maintained despite of increased amount of carbon dioxide emission. Because ocean can hold carbon dioxide as DIC (dissolved inorganic carbon), DOC (dissolved organic carbon), and POC (particulate organic carbon) forms by some biological mechanisms.

But since industrial revolution, the concentration of carbon dioxide in atmosphere has increased. So the amount of absorption to ocean has also increased, and it occurs ocean acidification. This ocean acidification has a great effect on marine ecosystem.

Data from Ed Dlugokencky and Pieter Tans, NOAA/ESRL (www.esrl.noaa.gov/gmd/ccgg/trends/)

There is a lot of uncertainties that increase of the amount of carbon dioxide induce climate system. But changes in seawater chemistry that result from an increase in carbon dioxide concentration can be measured or calculated precisely. So we are trying to look how ocean acidification occurs and how it affects the ecosystem of ocean
